Sometimes all we need is a distraction, or a quick coping mechanism that takes us out of it, so that we can accomplish a goal.


A positive affirmation, a breathing exercise, a guided meditation.


I get it. And I don’t take away the value of these tools when used in the right context.


However, relying on them on to feel good is like placing a pretty painting over a huge hole in the wall: the hole is still there, and out of sight doesn’t always mean out of mind.


Likewise, when it comes to persistent negative feelings and relationship issues, there is a deeper issue at play.


It’s the issue of your unmet emotional needs.


We all have them, and they are pretty much the same for all of us.


Safety, connection, appreciation, autonomy, impact, variety, fun and rest.
